Everyone wants a hero. The strange thing is that nobody seems to want to create one.

There was a time when organisations invested heavily in talent. They hired people with potential. They trained them. They developed them. In return, they got a loyal workforce.

Over time that started to change. Training became expensive. So organisations started competing for talent instead of building it. Then came contractors. Then fractional roles. Now everyone wants founders.

Heroes do not appear out of nowhere.

If every organisation wants heroes, who is creating them?

The desire path in hiring has been moving in one direction for years. More expectation. Less investment. At some point, the path runs out of ground.
